The College of Economics, Zhejiang University Founded in the year of 1897 in the name of “Qiushi shuyuan”(Qiushi Academy) and “Yuying Shuyuan”(Yuying Academy ), it has a long history and time-honored academic tradition. In the year of 1914 and 1928 the two academies had evolved into Hangchow Christian College and National Zhejiang University separately. Its antecedent was the faculty of economics initially established in1929 in the National Zhejiang University, which had been one of the earliest faculties or colleges of economics in the universities within China.

                                                                     Zijin Campus:School of Economics in the Future

The college has formed a complete system for talent cultivation from bachelor to master and doctor. It now has set up four departments, which are department of economics, department of Finance, department of public finance, department of international economics, four research centers and eight research institutes. It boasts political economics as a national developing key program. It has been entitled to confer doctoral degrees in one first level discipline and ten secondary level disciplines, and master degrees in two first level disciplines and thirteen secondary level disciplines, and it has five undergraduate programs. There are over 1,300 undergraduates, over 300 postgraduate students and more than 200 Ph. D. candidates, together with over 1,300 students in degree and non-degree programs in extended education. The employment rate after graduation for undergraduates stays at about 97% and 99% for graduates.
